The Subaru Legacy
has been redesigned for the 2010 model year. To better address current
market conditions, Subaru had not forgotten about efficiency in this
new model. With every Subaru having standard with all-wheel drive, fuel
efficiency is sacrificed to achieve greater traction. Luckily, the new
Legacy does not suffer from this typical trade-off.

  Subaru
Legacy models equipped with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and
mated to the available Continuously Variable Transmission can deliver
23 miles per gallon in city driving and 31 miles per gallon on the
highway, averaging around 26 mpg according to Used Cars Salinas,
which also has ample Subaru inventory. While these fuel economy ratings
are by no means stunning, the ratings do put the new Legacy ahead of
many other vehicles in its own class suggests Hartford CT Subaru dealers, while still being one of the few available with all-wheel drive.

Needless
to say, the other 2010 Subaru Legacy trim levels did not produce
impressive results. The Legacy 2.5 GT and the 3.6 R both deliver about
18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Still, bad credit car loans Salinas
specialists say for those consumers that need the added traction of
all-wheel drive, the Subaru Legacy is still a more efficient choice
than many SUVs that have comparable power and performance.

While
the 2010 Subaru Legacy is also available with a six-speed manual, don’t
expect it to impact mileage. Stick with the CVT for the best fuel
economy. Either way, the latest generation of this model is far more
efficient than its predecessor

, and should be able to deliver plenty of
value for the price.

Whether Subaru deserves credit for the first “crossover” vehicle may be debatable. When the first-generation Forester debuted as a 1998 model, the term hadn’t even entered the public lexicon. Most people considered the first Forester to be a car-like compact sport-utility vehicle. At the time, apart from such newcomers as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, most SUVs were truck-based, built on a separate chassis.

Dimensions have increased considerably for the new generation. Wheelbase has grown by 3.6 inches (to 103), and the 2009 Subaru Forester is 1.8 inches wider and 2.9 inches longer overall. That’s still shorter than Subaru’s Impreza. Rear legroom is 4.3 inches longer this time, making it surprisingly roomy. “Where it’s bigger is where it matters,” said corporate communications director Michael McHale. Rear occupants also get 2 more inches of shoulder room, while front riders gain 2.6 inches.

A new double-wishbone rear suspension, mounted on a subframe, increases cargo space as well as potentially improving ride quality. The hood on turbo-engine models has a more integrated, less extreme air-intake hump.

Because wind noise bothered some customers, roof crossbars, which used to be standard, have moved to the options list. Cruise-control buttons are now on the steering wheel. A telescoping steering wheel is now available, and cupholders hold one-liter beverages.

Subaru’s 2.5-liter horizontally opposed “boxer” four-cylinder engine comes in regular or turbocharged form. In 2.5X models, the non-turbo engine produces 170 horsepower at 6000 rpm, driving either a five-speed manual or four-speed Sportshift automatic transmission. Only automatic is available with the 2.5XT, whose dual-overhead-cam turbocharged engine generates 224 horsepower at 5200 rpm. Basic engine output has dropped slightly, but low- to mid-range torque has improved a bit and the turbo edition promises a flat torque curve. Fuel economy is just about the same as before, except that the manual-shift model is 1 mpg less frugal.

Every Subaru has all-wheel drive, but the one that mates with the turbo engine is more sophisticated in the way it apportions torque to the wheels. Foresters can tow up to 2,400 pounds. Ground clearance is 8.9 inches with the turbo engine (8.7 in regular form). Most models now ride on 17-inch wheels.

An altogether enjoyable vehicle, the Forester proved its off-the-pavement capabilities during an arduous drive through the wilds of California’s Catalina Island. Even in the most challenging spots, the Forester demonstrated its prowess with ease. Though it coped well with severe bumps and holes, some unpleasant sounds occasionally emanated from down below.

Acceleration is modest in 170-hp form, and the turbo model isn’t exactly stirring, either. It also suffers some turbo lag when pushed hard. Even so, performance is more than adequate for a compact crossover/SUV. Automatic-transmission operation is hardly discernible, but Subaru’s manual gearbox is not the greatest.

Expect excellent ride quality, as the compliant suspension absorbs nearly all commotion. Even on rough dirt roads, the Forester only occasionally penalizes occupants significantly. Foresters are highly maneuverable, too, and mostly quiet’though the rather high-revving non-turbo engine is heard frequently.

Front seats are roomy, comfortable, and inviting. Rear leg and foot room qualify as shockingly spacious, even with front seats pushed fairly far back. A large speedometer is easy enough to read, but a little “busy” looking. Subaru Foresters are “known for superior visibility,” McHale said, and the 2009 model demonstrates that trait well. Views all around are undisturbed.

2009 Subaru Forester’s starting price, for the base 2.5X model with a manual transmission, is $19,995 (plus $665 destination charge). That’s $1,200 lower than the price of the least-costly 2008 Forester. For 2009, too, Subaru has made Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and curtain-type airbags with rollover sensing standard in every model. VDC is Subaru’s version of stability control. Front active head restraints also are standard.

So, is it a crossover or an SUV? “Crossover SUV” is the latest term, said communications director McHale. “Consumers like to think they’re buying SUVs.”

Subaru is internationally known company for their use of boxer engines in most of their vehicles. Subaru is the division of Japanese transportation conglomerate Fuji Heavy Industries Group. The company is named after the star cluster Pleiades which means ‘seven sisters’ in Greek mythology, and SUBARU in Japanese mythology.

The parent company of Subaru Fuji Heavy Industries is currently in partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation, which owns 16.5% of FHI. The logo of the company is influenced by the star clusters. There is a large star that represents heavy industries and five small stars represent the current five companies. In Subaru model, the Subaru Tail lights are perfectly designed for every user better illumination and visibility on the road.

Whatever vehicle it is, chipping gives a guarantee for maximum power from the gas engine. Adding the chip on a normally aspirated gas the vehicle typically produces a peak power which would gain about 5-9% and then it provides an increased all rpm. However, on a modified normally aspirated gas vehicle or on forced induction vehicle, adding a chip typically produces a peak gain about 15-20%. The Play-n-Plug version is a feature of the Subaru performance chip and it is created to provide an increase in the power and efficiency balanced on providing the maximum amount of a vehicle’s engine longevity and durability. Chipping can be said to be basically a revolutionary concept in an engine control. Its module is designed as a digital signal processor instead of being designed and produced for a particular vehicle type. It is not simply just for the sake of chip but it is literally a computer that is having all the inherent flexibility that a computer has. The performance chip is able to control the fuel on any fuel-injected vehicle, and is able to control both the fuel and the timing about on 90% of the vehicles that has ever been produced and it has an ECU.

Now we will see The are various advantages of using the Subaru performance chip which could be said as it increases power, expands the time duration between expensive tune ups, aids the spark plugs life that is installed in the engine, very good for the manual or the auto transmissions for fasting shifting, increases torque, Has the performance that is insane which actually does not hurt the gasoline, has better capacity for towing and it increases the top speed as well as acceleration.

Subaru performance chip allows the engine to produce more, torque, horsepower and helps to get a better gas mileage. Customer should impress himself/herself today with these great new performance chips of Subaru. If we talk about the track days which are regular occurrence for the customers, then one should go for this Ford performance chip which is going to be great. The knob can be turned up for the ultimate power or turned down to get the better gas mileage after one is done after winning the race. Using a Subaru chip for the truck or the car would make the vehicle more and more fun and also makes it more powerful as well. Or, if you are hauling large loads of lumber or other things regularly, then a Subaru computer chip would make it actually its whole lot easier. It makes one feel the surge in the low-end torque with the installation of the Subaru power chip. Adding on top of this one would not have to stop as often at the fuel station because the Subaru ECU chip doe not give one much better fuel mileage. The Installation of these chips are said to be like breeze as well. If one has just a pair of pliers then in less than 15 minutes, a new Subaru power/performance chip can be installed in the truck or the car. Any one could feel the difference once when the new Subaru engine chip is installed.

In the Subaru performance chip development the engine performance chip is supposed to be the leader as it has the best performing performance parts of the Subaru. It speeds up the limiter, revs limiter, shift points, modifies fuel and the air ratios, shift firmness and ignitions the timing.

Back in 2000 when I was looking for my first car, I decided to buy my Subaru because it was neat and compact, with a small engine and low running costs. I was just out of university, struggling along in my first job, and the second-hand three-door little car was the best I could manage at the time.

Although I’ve since moved on from that job and am now paid a respectable salary, out of some bizarre kind of loyalty to my first car – which, in all fairness, has never caused me any great problems – I refused to sell my Subaru and kept it as its value depreciated and it became less and less practical. But since it continued to run, I also reasoned that there was no reason to look for a new car, employing the maxim, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ I don’t do many long journeys so didn’t feel justified in shelling out for a new car, with all the the associated financial and environmental costs. I figured I’d just run it into the ground and hold onto it for as long as I could.

I decided to sell my Subaru Impreza when I took it into the garage for its last service. When I realised that the money I would need to spend on it over the next couple of years to ensure it kept passing its MOTs would be greater than the value of the car itself, I bit the bullet and looked for a Subaru buyer. Selling my Subaru was a sorry decision but it made no sense to keep pouring cash into a car that was ultimately destined for the scrap heap – I might as well cut my losses and buy a newer car that would need less maintenance and would, in the long term, save me money.

I used the classified ads in the local paper both to sell my Subaru and look for a new car. It was a new experience for me; I had bought my first car from a family friend as I knew he was giving me a good deal and it would be in good condition, so I’d never had to negotiate the endless questions of model, age, space, safety record, fuel efficiency, price and colour that confronted me when I scanned the listings. In the end I decided my requirements (five door hatchback, no more than five years old), and made a set of fairly arbitrary decisions to narrow it down further.

I had several inquiries from people wanting to buy my Subaru, though one or two were put off when they saw it. I did everything I could (within reason) to make it more attractive, from the obvious clean and polish to replacing the worn old windscreen wipers and filling it with petrol as an incentive. I finally found my Subaru buyer – a student looking for a first car, who wasn’t too worried about the long-term potential as long as it got her to the end of her course. I felt it had found its rightful home and was pleased that I’d managed to get something for it, even if it wasn’t much.

How to save money on your next Subaru service

Subaru servicing is now much cheaper, for those in the know.

Thanks to European legislation, you no longer have to be tied to high Subaru service costs, dictated by your local dealer.

In October 2003 new European legislation affecting the motor industry came into force called “Block Exemption Regulation” 14002002 (BER), and this now means that you can book your next Subaru car service online and save up to 50% on what you might pay at your local Subaru dealer.

Before the law changed it was difficult to have new cars within their warranty period serviced outside a franchised dealer. If you wanted to shop around for the best prices on Subaru servicing, your hands were tied.

The change in the law now gives every car owner the freedom to service their car away from the main dealers, and still have their warranty protected.

Thousands of Subaru car owners have now taken advantage of their new right and reduced their Subaru serving costs, whilst benefiting from the convenience of booking with national car service providers such as Service A Car.

Service A Car is a leading online car servicing network that prides itself on the quality of its Subaru servicing, their customer service and transparent pricing. Because the company is not tied to any particular car manufacturer, they are able to service any make of vehicle and compete freely in the market, on a like-for-like.

Every vehicle is rigorously serviced according to the manufacturer’s servicing schedule, using genuine recommended parts fitted by qualified technicians. This means that every Subaru car service fulfils the warranty criteria and there is no compromise on the servicing standards of a main dealer.

Companies like Service A Car, who fulfil the warranty criteria when servicing your Subaru, are able to maintain your service book, just as main dealer can – thereby protecting your warranty and helping you to maximise the resale value of your Subaru car.

Of course, booking direct with a national car servicing network has its own advantages:
· You no longer have to do all the running around. Service A Car collects your Subaru in the morning and delivers it back that afternoon, free of charge
· You pay a fixed Subaru service price, which can be up to 50% below the price at the Subaru servicing desk of your local dealer
· No additional work is carried out without your agreement, which means no nasty surprises when it comes to paying the bill
· Trained Customer Advisers are on hand throughout the day to keep you informed of progress, and report back on problems you asked to be investigated as part of your Subaru service e.g. knocks and rattles
· Your Subaru service includes a free wash and vacuum clean
· You simply pay with your credit or debit card and your car is delivered back to your home or work address.

Our advice for saving money on Subaru car servicing is to contact a national car servicing network, who is not tied to any one particular car manufacturer, like Service A Car.

So, before you book your next Subaru service, why not ask your local dealer to tell you the cost of the service (plus parts, oil and any extras) and then compare it with a fixed price quote from a national servicing network, like Service A Car?

In the late 2007, some of the car models from Subaru were in great demand in the market and had made exception sales in Japan. The main reason behind this is the high performance of the car. Now the company had planned out to launch the STI version which will be uncovered in the month of October in official Tokyo Auto Show.

Subaru is well known as the Japanese car company and is present in the FHI’s automotive division. Besides this, the company is affiliated with the Toyota Motor Corporation with a share of 8.7% of FHI. Stake had been acquired from the General Motors. GM bought the 20% of FHI in the time period of 1999 with the aim to extend the position in the international markets and also wanted to collaborate with the FHI.

With the help of FHI, Subaru had been able to set the theme for the car which are emphasizing on the goals of the company. The main motto of the company is to provide the pleasant and comfortable drive for both passengers and the driver. Company works in providing the full functionality and utility along with the reliable peace of mind.

While in UK, the buyers will not be provided the WRX models because of the European emissions laws.

The high performance models from Subaru are still uncovered until the auto show in Tokyo. Also in the field of World Rally Championship which is commonly known as WRC, Subaru is providing a great hand in the motorsports technology. All the car models had been designed keeping in mind the enthusiasm of the serious drivers who are participating in the race.

If you have the pleasure of owning a Subaru SVX, you are instantly drawn to this luxury car’s striking features and distinct look.

Although the Subaru SVX is well renowned as being dependable and reliable for the most part; this car does come with its own pitfalls and mechanical problems. The main issues most owners run into with a Subaru SVX are wheel bearing issues, transmission problems and even transmission failure. Having the transmission repaired on the SVX can prove to be costly and sometimes not worth fixing. Because the SVX is set in a higher weight class than most vehicles in its group it is also prone to having problems with warped rotors.

While all of these issues can be fixed, they can also be expensive, mainly due in part to the fact that the Subaru SVX is an imported vehicle and in order to find parts, you need to either see a Subaru dealer in your area that specializes in repair and maintenance or you need to order the parts from a reputable manufacturer. Either way it can be rather pricey.

There are other resources and places to look when you are in need of parts for your Subaru SVX and you can utilize these ideas to locate the parts you need to fix it yourself or to acquire the parts and then have a licensed mechanic finish the work and repair the Subaru SVX. This will save you hundreds of dollars.

Purchase the Parts Wholesale

If you happen to know someone who works for Subaru or works in their parts department you can easily purchase the parts you need for your Subaru SVX through them. You will need to have a licensed mechanic or someone knowledgeable with Subaru to do the repairs.

Your Local Subaru Dealer

If you are able to fix the Subaru SVX yourself or you know someone who can help you repair the vehicle, you can obtain the parts through your local Subaru dealer. The cost for the parts won’t be as cheap as if you were to buy them wholesale.

Internet Auction Sites

There are many popular Internet auction sites that you can bid on or even purchase the parts you need for your Subaru SVX. Not all auction sites need you to bid on the item you want, although if you choose this option, you can save hundreds of dollars and you also have the option to buy the product directly from the seller.

Online Vehicle Part Swap Sites

If you perform a simple Google search you can easily find online vehicle part swap sites. Here, many times there are sellers who are looking to swap their used or new parts for something else. This is great if you happen to have what the seller is looking for and you are short on funds.

Junkyards

Junkyards are a great way to find the parts you need for your Subaru SVX. You need to take into consideration that these parts are used and may need to be removed from the vehicle before you can purchase the parts.

Vehicle Auctions

There are several vehicle auctions available that auction off the Subaru SVX for rock bottom prices, this is a great way to get a back up vehicle or use the vehicle for parts to repair the Subaru you currently have.

By utilizing multiple resources you can easily find the Subaru SVX parts that you need to get your vehicle back and running in no time.

One of the most common questions we get asked at MRT Performance, literally on a daily and weekly basis, is whether I would buy an Mitsubishi EVO X or an EVO IV compared to a Subaru MY08 STi or an MY07 STi.

I am going to give you a few thoughts on the different models to help you make a judgment on whether the Mitsubishi Evo or Subaru STI is the better car to buy.

If you’re trying to decide, do you buy an STI or do you buy an EVO? If you work for Mitsubishi or Subaru, this may come as a surprise, or it may come as no surprise. The way that we most often help people these days to make a decision is we ask one simple question:

Where and how often are you going to drive the car?

Are you going to drive the car every day of the week, or are you just going to drive it on the weekend? Is it your daily driver and the most common car that you do drive, or is it the car that you’ll only drive on weekends for a bit of a fun car to drive at the track or out through your favorite, twisty country roads?

The reason for this is because, unfortunately the STI model cars, particularly in the Impreza range really aren’t what I call, not hard core, but the sporty type of car that the previous models used to be.

The seats are not the same. It’s toned down a little bit. I think Subaru tried to make the new STI range a little bit too common now. They’ve widened its appeal. Maybe they’ll sell more. Maybe they’ll sell less because I’ve certainly had several people speak to us about how the seats in the ’08 STI are not as good as the previous models. In my opinion, they’re certainly not as good as the ’99 or ’00 model car.

Frankly, they’re made for wide-assed people. They’re made to suit as many people as they can. Of course, if you’re a bit beefy in the back side, and you want to sit in a ’99 or 2000 model, you’re probably not going to like the seats, but you will like it in the STI. Who knows why they decided to do that, other than the fact that they obviously want to sell more cars.

Now, when it comes to the EVO range, it’s a little bit more hard core. I think Mitsubishi has effectively kept its focus on where it’s really going with that model. That can be good and that can be bad. If you’re going to drive a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO range of cars, definitely like the ’09 on a daily basis, it can be quite annoying. For example, it doesn’t have cruise control if you drive in freeway traffic and you want to have a bit of a plod, or you’re going home late one evening.

The Subaru comes with cruise control factory standard. The other thing is that, for Australian conditions, the EVO has pretty poor air conditioning. I don’t think it’s really been thought out that well. I think it’s an add-on. In a race car situation, you sack it. You don’t want it so you get rid of the weight. It certainly doesn’t perform as well as a Subaru. Bluntly, the EVO’s got an absolutely shocking turning circle, whereas the Subaru has got a good turning circle.

That can be good and bad. If you’re a bit of an animal, and you don’t have any mechanical sympathy, if you put the steering wheel on full lock on a Subaru, and you give it a big launch, you effectively will pop the drive shafts out of the outer CV joints because there is too much angularity in the outer turning circle because of the drive shaft connection in the front of the car.

Mitsubishi obviously limited that with the turning circle to stop you from doing that. It’s effectively built in an idiot factor. The downside is if you want to do a nice, cruise-y, take-it-easy type of u-turn, or go around a very small round-about, you can’t make it without doing a two-point turn. That looks absolutely stupid when you are driving a car as new as that model EVO IV..

Performance wise, on the road, standard suspension compared STI to EVO, the EVO is firmer, a little bit harsher, but it’s not really an issue. So you can start to get a bit of an idea of why I asked about how you’re going to drive the car. The answer is if you’re looking to buy a car that you’re going to drive in a sporty, fun way on the weekends, then you would buy an EVO.

If you’re going to drive that every day of the week to and from work, then you would buy an STI. There really is no accurate, black-and-white answer. On the track, both cars pretty much hit the nail on the head with a different recipe. Obviously the drive train, engine layout and diff controller system on a Subaru is dramatically different to a Mitsubishi, but the lap times come up pretty close together.

I think it’s because Subaru has dulled down the STI a little bit. The EVO is a little bit more fun to drive out of the box, but then, I’ve got a bit of a weakness for Subarus. I’ve owned a Subaru for a long time with my rally car. You can’t beat that boxer beat when you make the exhaust sound a little bit better. An EVO, then, has a separate advantage. I’m talking positive with everything in that if you want to open up the exhaust and squeeze a bit more grunt out of it with the right package of parts, you can do it a lot easier. When you open up the exhaust, it doesn’t get as noisy as what a Subaru does however.

Hopefully that has given you a few ideas on my opinions of the Mitsubishi EVO X or an EVO IV compared to a Subaru MY08 STi or an MY07 STi.
